Who should sign up for this workshop?
This course is for anyone who has never done any patchwork or quilting. No matter if you have sewing experience or not, if you would like to explore this particular craft, then this workshop is for you. Our classes are small, and so personal attention is high!
Reserve your spot by sending an email to sogrizzquilting@gmail.com (or through our contact page). Send your name and contact details and date of workshop, and we will confirm asap.
What will you make?
The aim of this workshop is to teach you the basics of all the steps needed to produce a quilt. We will produce various patchwork blocks and assemble them into a quilt measuring about 80x80cm.
What skills will you learn?
You will start by learning the basics of the sewing machine.
We will then explore the techniques for ironing, cutting fabric with rotary cutter and mat, using quilting rulers, pressing seams, trimming blocks, etc.
We’ll create various patchwork blocks and assemble them into a quilt top.
The blocks will then be ‘sandwiched’ onto batting and backing fabric, and quilted with a walking foot, using a grid pattern.
After trimming the whole quilt into a perfect square, we will bind the edges to complete the project!
Materials provided and included in the price:
The quilt pattern;
All fabric needed (blocks, borders, backing and binding) and batting;
Use of sewing machine (although you are welcome to bring your own);
Use of thread, scissors, rotary cutter, seam ripper, rulers, ¼ inch and walking foot, pins, markers, etc.
